For our series Soulmates Sessions we require a central host to to put together an evening with his soulmates. Double bass player Lennart Heyndels is a musician as we like them: not to catch one hole and involved in numerous projects (Jens Maurice Orchestra, Les Chroniques de l’Inutile, solo projects, …). The ideal key figure so for Soulmates Sessions. Lennart brings 8 musicians from 6 different countries for a very diverse triple bill.
HOW TOWN
A Belgian / Latvian quintet with a remarkable occupation: bass, guitar (Matiss Cudars) and three female voices (Sarah Klenes, Elina Silova and Laura Polence). This polyrhythmic ensemble combines contemporary pop with the intricacies of classical music and the freedom of jazz. They received the prize for Young Music TAZ # 2014, had already visited us in the run of our festival STORM! and now present their new album I dare you sea. A concert of How Town is a unique experience and irresistibly compelling.
FEECHO
Slovenian pianist Kaja Draksler has lived since her studies in the Netherlands. It occurs worldwide in various formations and brought on Clean Feed fantastic albums, both solo and in duo with Susana Santos Silva. Drummer Onno Govaert is inseparable from the Amsterdam jazz scene and developed his reckless play in bands like Cactus Truck. As a duo they bring with Feecho free improvisation, their debut album Bums appeared on El Negocito Records last year.
PIT DAHM TRIO
Lennart Heyndels is part of numerous international groups, including the trio of the Luxembourg drummer Pip Dahm. Together with the French saxophonist Charlie Rose, they present their own mix of composed and improvised music. This acoustic trio finds fun in the unknown and spontaneous composing. From their diverse interests ranging from classical music to heavy metal they weave different feelings, thoughts and instincts into a coherent picture. This concert is the Belgian release of their album Omicron.
